Zee has always been fascinated with health and wellness. As a Division I track athlete and former Sargent in the United States Army he knew nutrition was important “to make the machine go,” but didn’t realize just how important it was until shortly after graduating from college. While attending Louisiana State University’s E.J. Ourso College of Business, the stress and less-than-optimal diet began to affect his health. Although he never regarded his diet as “bad”, the consumption of highly processed and non-living foods were silently taking their toll. Shortly after graduating college and multiple misdiagnosis later, the true culprit reared its ugly head – Zee was diagnosed with Crohns disease in 2006. Subsequently, the diagnosis was quickly followed by open abdominal surgery that left him with an eight inch incision, twenty-five staples to close the incision, and weeks of recovery. For this, traditional medicine knows no cause, and it knows no cure. The recommended treatment for this disease required a lifelong regimen of pills and additional surgeries. For a short time, Zee opted for the pills, assuming it was the only solution. After a couple of years of popping prescription pills that promised to keep the disease at bay, Zee stubbornly decided the pill regimen was no longer for him. For someone as young (and otherwise healthy) as Zee, it was a devastating experience. Despite Zee’s discouraging experience with Western medicine’s failed approach, he was determined to find a way to heal. Beginning 2010, in an attempt to find a natural and holistic way of healing, Zee began researching plant based diets, drinking his newly created “green juice” and practicing meditation. Consequently he found himself devoid of the symptoms from a disease that modern medicine calls incurable. Thanks to a diet that largely consisted of plants, he was able to not only completely heal from the disease, but his physical and mental strengths soared. Inspired by his personal health transformation, in 2012 Zee decided to leave his job to pursue his real passion – helping others transform their minds and bodies. S.U.P.A. was created to assist others in doing just that.
